There are only a handful of Catholic Churches on Maui which are available to the out-of-state wedding couple. We can make all Hawaii wedding arrangements for you but due to Catholic guidelines the Catholic Church of your choice and the Catholic Priest will have to be booked through you. You can choose from several Catholic Churches and Catholic Priests here on the island of Maui and on all Hawaiian Islands. However, there is quite a bit more to remember and organize from your side when you wish to celebrate a Catholic Destination wedding. The most important fact is that you can only get married inside of a Catholic Church. No Catholic Priest on Maui will marry you in a garden or on a beach. There is no Catholic Church directly on the ocean, but here are a few options. You can also have your own Catholic Priest from home perform the ceremony here on Maui but have to talk to the church staff about procedures.
This is the situation with Catholic Churches on Maui. You would have to contact the church directly and provide the staff with your vital statistics. We at Ancient Hawaiian Weddings can do everything else for you from there on. But we are not allowed to reserve the church or the priest for you. Each church works a little bit different. Once you call or e-mail them your request with your wedding day and preferred ceremony start time, they will send you a letter with all the documentation that has to be filled out and complied with from your side. Your church will have to send all documents to the diocese in Honolulu which will then allow the priest on Maui to perform the ceremony. This procedure usually takes about 4-6 months but can also be done earlier at times if you have already done the counseling part.

Catholic Sacred Hearts Church, Kapalua, Maui:
Beautiful very charming and picturesque plantation style church in elegant Kapalua Village, surrounded by a small park. The setting is very pretty. We could also go to nearby Fleming beach after the ceremony for some beach photos. The Ritz Carlton Resort in Kapalua is right next to the church and is perfect for a reception to follow. For a very nice and elegant alternative, please check out the Plantation House Restaurant, which also is only a few minutes away from this church.
Their sister church is called the Maria Lanakila Catholic Church. It is situated in the midst of busy Lahaina Town.
Catholic Holy Ghost Church, Kula, Maui:
A silvery white octagon shaped structure resting on the slopes of Kula at the 3000’ elevation mark. The inside and its intimacy along with the splendid ornateness makes this the most decorative Catholic church on Maui, perfect for a smaller wedding group. There is only a very small strip of grass alongside the church, so we suggest the Kula Botanical Gardens for additional wedding pictures. You also have the option for additional beach pictures on the South or West Maui Beaches.
St. Theresa Church, Kihei, Maui:
Another church is St. Theresa in Kihei. This is a very large church (seats around 800) which is located close to a road but has a nice garden and is the only church with air conditioning.
Donation for most churches is between $1,000 and $1,500. The ceremony start times they usually offer are between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
We will send you additional wedding information for Catholic Weddings when you inquire.

For a more traditional Hawaii wedding, Maui offers a variety of charming historic churches of different denominations. All churches charge a set fee.
